 - The victorious wind. Clear Day (or Red Fuji) is a famous landscape from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" by Katsushika Hokusai.

The sun "dressed up" the sacred Japanese Mount Fuji in red tones, melting the snow outfit on its slopes.

A strong wind sways the air. Its power, like a victory song, fills the space with joyful excitement.

 - The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the most famous Ukiyo-e engraving by the Japanese master Katsushika Hokusai, which has no similar depth of content and aesthetic perfection.

The artist in this story embodied the philosophy of Zen Buddhism, where there is no unity and struggle of opposites, but there is a single world consisting of ever-changing entities and dharmas in constant motion.

 - Actor Otani Oniji lll in the role of servant Edobei author Syaraku Tosyusai ("Actor Otani Oniji") - this plot belongs to the most mysterious artist of the Edo period.

Tosyusai Syaraku became famous for his frankly bold portrayals of Kabuki Theater actors.

Unlike his predecessors, he did not idealize them and at the same time did not depict them realistically.

He deliberately exaggerated their features to emphasize the unique personality of the actor.

On the engraving "Actor Otani Oniji III", the artist captured a fragment of the play “The Colored Reins of a Loving Wife” (“Koi nyōbō somewake tazuna”).

The actor plays the role of a servant named Yakko Edobei.

According to the plot, this character is often used by samurai in their dark deeds.

The actor’s leering face, shown in three-quarter view, his bristling hair, and his groping outstretched hands capture the ruthless nature of this wicked henchman.

His appearance perfectly conveys the villainous character of this hero of the play.

 - Fujin and Raijin are the mythological god of wind and the god of thunder and the plot of the famous screen by the artist of the Edo period Tawaraya Sōtatsu.

This is the first work of art that has become a National Treasure of Japan.

 - Nihonbashi is a Japanese bridge.

An engraving from the series "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō" by Utagawa Hiroshige.

The artist captured the first wooden bridge, built in 1603 by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

The Nihonbashi Bridge was and is considered to be the main bridge in the country.

By order of Tokugawa for several centuries, all distances were measured from this bridge, which was considered to be the geographical center of the country.

Modern signs on the autobahns showing the distance to Tokyo indicate exactly the distance to the Nihonbashi Bridge.

 - Asakusa (Kaminarimon - "Thunder Gate") is a winter cityscape from the series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" by Utagawa Hiroshige, a recognized master of landscape.

 - “Young Woman Blowing a Popen” - an engraving by the famous master of female portraits of the Edo period Utamaro Kitagawa.

 A geisha dressed in a red kimono blows into a bidoro - a kind of glass toy - whistle, which at that time was very popular with geisha.

 - “Three Beauties of the Present Day” - portrait of 3 beauties by Utamaro Kitagawa, who were especially popular in Edo city and beyond.
